The University of Edinburgh is one of the oldest and largest universities in the UK, is a member of the Russell Group of universities in the UK, Universitas 21 and the League of European Research Universities (LERU). The University provides an education for more than 19,500 undergraduates and 8,800 postgraduates and continuing professional education/development for 13,000 lifelong learners each year. Our students come from more than 120 countries globally, and 30% of the student population is international. The University has just under 8,000 staff, 3,300 of which are teaching and research staff. The University operates its own internal quality assurance framework which is subject to external review by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) every 5 years. The QA processes cover teaching provision and student support service provision. The University’s Strategic Plan makes clear the importance of and commitment to delivering world class support services.

 The University of Alicante (UA) is a public modern university founded in 1979, and has, since its inception, focused on international excellence. It is considered to be one of the most innovative and fastest-developing universities in the country. UA, through its 6 Faculties offers over 50 degree courses, is home to some 30000 students (thereof some 3000 are international students), more than 2200 academics and researchers, and some 2100 administrative and management staff. Research, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer are core activities of the UA, where some 223 research groups are pursuing high quality research in varied fields of expertise; further high quality research is being promoted through the new Science Park, which constitutes a space where existing companies, new businesses (mostly technology-based), research institutes and groups, and R&D laboratories work together for quality research, technical and logistic services. UA is a dynamic university with strong int. orientation.

The “G. d’Annunzio” University of Chieti-Pescara  (UdA) was first established as an independent university in 1960. In 1982 it gained the status of State University and has grown exponentially since then. Currently it has 36.000 students and twelve faculties located on two campuses: one in Chieti, with the Registered Office, the Rectorate and the Central Administration, and another in Pescara. Also part of UdA is the Center of Excellence for Aging Sciences (Ce.S.I.); the Institute of Advanced Biomedical Technologies (ITAB); the Center for Continuing Education (CEDUC); the Leonardo da Vinci On-line Distance University, the Museum of BioSciences. Several agreements with foreign Universities, Erasmus projects and   international research projects are in progress, under the programmes of Italian Ministry of University and Research and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 7th European Framework and INTERREG, with the aim of a strong internationalization.

WUS KS is a Kosovar non-governmental organization located in Prishtina established in March 2010. Our organization engages itself on promoting and facilitating implementation of Europe 2020 Strategy in Kosova. It supports the process of promoting the EU targets for 2020 in Kosova and their translation into national targets through local and regional cooperation. Through different international funded projects, it offers services/expertise on: curriculum development in the line of the Bologna conformity ; facilitate the cooperation on innovative based approach between HE-Economy, offer different trainings; academic mobility; quality assurance in teaching, learning, research and student support services; national qualification framework; introduction to the contemporary teaching methodologies/technologies; research and development activities etc. The management of WUS Kosova is represented in the main responsible Bodies for the Reforming Process of the HE System of Kosova.

UNIVERSITY OF “HAXHI ZEKA”

The Public University “Haxhi Zeka” is a descendant of the Faculty of Business and Applied Sciences of the University of Prishtina in Peja that was established in 1960. Kosova Government, Ministry of Education, Science and Technolgy of Kosova (MESTK), Municipality of Peja and staff of previous Faculty of Business and Applied Sciences of the University of Prishtina, have all cooperated closely to establish the new Public University “Haxhi Zeka” in Peja. On November 11, 2012 the Parliament of Kosova in its regular session has ratified the establishment of the Public University “Haxhi Zeka” Peja. The first generation of students has enrolled, in October 2012. Public University “Haxhi Zeka” is founded as a public institution of higher education. It is envisioned to be modern in its structures and methodologies. Currently, UHZ is comprised of five faculties: Business; Law; Management in Tourism, Hospitality and Environment; Agri-Business and Arts.

MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY – HIGHER EDUCATION DEPARTMENT (HED)

The Higher Education Department’s scope of the work at the national level is also:

a)      Establishing the Agencies and Centers, as well as other educational advices in the country level for better implementation of the legislation and policies in higher education;

b)      Developing and harmonizing new policies for accomplishing the obligations which comes out of the Bologna Process and integration of Kosova Higher Education into European Higher Education Area as well as international standards;

c)      Initiating and developing cooperation programs in higher education with other countries;

d)     Ensuring a regular coordination and harmonization of contributions of partners and donors towards synergies and harmonization with national strategies and country needs in higher education.

KOSOVO ACCREDITATION AGENCY (KAA)

KAA was established by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEST) in accordance with the Law on Higher Education – LHE (2003/14) in Kosovo, as the Agency that guarantees the quality of educational and scientific research work in Higher Education Institutions in Kosovo. The Kosovo Accreditation Agency is a public agency for the evaluation of quality at public and private institutions of higher education.  Through the accreditation process, it supports the development of quality in these institutions. The Kosovo Accreditation Agency has a legal basis for the accreditation of all higher education institutions that offer or propose to offer higher education programmers that lead to the award of academic degrees.

KOSOVA CENTER FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION IN HIGHER EDUCATION, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

K-CIRT’s scope focuses on awareness raising for the importance of higher education and research; agenda setting in these policy areas and respective lobbying activities; promotion of regular dialogue, information exchange and coordination of activities, where appropriate, between the area of higher education and research in the Kosovo and the formulation of recommendations for the higher education and research institutions; coordinates networks, participates in the building up of comprehensive databases and designs interactive information modules facilitating new governance structures on behalf of, and in cooperation with, Kosovo public authorities and international organizations; support knowledge exchanges among different partners (private sector, academia etc.); create partnerships (bilateral, multilateral, regional, international); facilitate information exchange; provide a platform for sharing expertise, good practice examples,  facilitate education experts in different fields.
