The Strategy for Quality Assurance of the University “Haxhi Zeka”
The lunching of the Quality Assurance Strategy of University of “Haxhi Zeka” took place on 15th December 2015 at University “Haxhi Zeka” in Peja. Participants – UHZ staff and representatives from local project partners: WUS Kosova and Kosova Accreditation Agency were welcomed by the rector of Haxhi Zeka University, Prof. Assoc. Dr. Fadil Millaku. In the opening speech he thanked the project partners for their efforts on developing the Strategy for QA, and especially European Commission that financially supported the project.
Prof. Ass. Dr. But Dedaj who presented WUS Kosova, in his speech for the process of development of the strategy, he thanked Prof. Tina Harrison from the University of Edinburgh, project grant holder for her utmost contribution in this process. Additionally, Prof. Dedaj emphasized that the strategy should be implemented and not kept only as a document. Valbona Rraci representing the EYE Project, in the opening speech mentioned that the employment growth for youth should be increased and the career office should be strengthened. On the other hand, Prof. Dr. Ibish Mazreku, Vice-rector commented that they will try to achieve all the objectives provided in the strategy. Mr. Elmi Kelmendi from KAA, spoke about the importance that this strategy has in the easier access in the labor market for students, professors and graduates. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Sabiha Shala said that this strategy is incorporated in the one year plan of the University. There will be established a commission for monitoring the implementation of the Strategy.
The presentation of the strategy was delivered by the coordinator of the project, Prof. Mimoza Hyseni -Spahiu. She presented in more details the objectives of the strategy and measures. These objectives are:
- to promote a learning and teaching experience in line with European standards and the equality of opportunities for all students;
- to develop processes and instruments to support national and international cooperation;
- to develop mechanisms to assure quality in research, to encourage and support active involvement of students in the strategy processes and to develop effective, transparent and sustainable governance. Lastly, Prof. Hyseni- Spahiu has pointed-out the problem on implementation of the strategy due to the lack of staff that UHZ has.
The aim of this project is to support the University “Haxhi Zeka” to achieve the objectives of Higher Education in order to increase the quality of teaching and research and as a final result, to facilitate the integration of Kosova into the European Higher Education area.
